What Would Hitchcock Do?

What Would Hitchcock Do?

We’ve been off the blogosphere for quite some time now and for that, we apologize.  But, good news, we’re back!

We’re back!

So you might be wondering what in the world Alfred Hitchcock or this picture has to do with Hugs Cafe.  That’s a fair question. This past weekend marked the 4oth Anniversary of one of my all-time favorite movies, Jaws. Despite being one of the highest grossing films in the 70’s

This past weekend marked the 4oth Anniversary of one of my all-time favorite movies, Jaws. Despite being one of the highest grossing films  in the 70’s Jaws nearly never made it to the big screen and could have been the demise of Steven Spielberg!

Stick with me, I promise this will all make sense in a minute.

In a recent interview, Speilberg talks about the $250,000 animatronic Shark (aptly named Bruce after his lawyer) and the multitude of problems they had with it during shooting.  Things got so bad with Bruce that they nearly had to abandon using him at all until a thought occurred to Speilberg, “What would Hitchcock do?”

Known for his ability to get your heart racing with the unseen, Spielberg took a note right out of Hitchcock’s films and created one of the most memorable protagonists the film industry had ever seen (or, more accurately, would rarely see).  Speilberg states that “It’s what we don’t see which is truly terrifying.”  This simple act of not showing audience the mysterious terror of the deep and letting the anticipation build in the mind proved to be an incredibly successful recipe for making a truly horrifying film.

Now for one of the most wheels off analogies/transitions of all time… (Bonus points if you get the joke)

Here at Hugs Cafe, we’ve been keeping a little secret of our own. You’ve seen posts and mentions of an “event” coming up this summer that will help put Hugs Cafe on the map!  And we have some big news…

We’re almost ready to tell you what it is!!!

OK, that was mean.  But, it had to be done.  We’ve been quiet for a while and want to make sure you know it’s not because we don’t love you (trust us, we do).  Simply put, we’ve been busy!  Hugs Cafe is on the move and we’re about to announce something big!  We’re so close to opening our doors that we can taste it!

Just keep your eyes peeled over the next few days for an announcement that is going to help jump start Hugs Cafe in a major way.  (Insert corny movie pun) You’re going to need a bigger boat if you want to catch this wave.

As always, thanks so much for your love and support.  With your help, we’re going to change the city of McKinney for the better by enriching the lives of our future teammates and the community at large.

Happy Monday!

P.S. We know how hard it is, but Tom Petty said it better than anyone…
